Pacha New York is ready: opening weekends locked after final licence clears
Pacha New York cleared its final licensing hurdle in the week of June 8 and opens this month at the former Brooklyn Mirage complex in East Williamsburg. Rampa curates the June 13 and 14 pre-opening, with sold out official openings from Michael Bibi on June 20 and Black Coffee on June 21.
Ten years after the original Pacha NYC closed its Hell's Kitchen doors, the cherries are back in New York. Pacha's new club at the former Brooklyn Mirage complex in East Williamsburg cleared its last two hurdles in the week of June 8: Mixmag reported the project severed its final ties with the Mirage brand and secured a temporary liquor licence from the State Liquor Authority.
The room opens in stages. Keinemusik's Rampa curates a pre-opening weekend on June 13 and 14, an open-air party called UNLOCKED followed by a block party called UNBLOCKED. The official opening weekend is already gone: Michael Bibi on June 20 and Black Coffee on June 21 both sold out.
The complex will run outdoor shows at roughly 5,300 capacity and indoor nights around 2,500, and the club has announced a free shuttle program for attendees, a small detail that says a lot about how seriously the operators are treating the neighborhood file after the Mirage era.
The summer and fall calendar already lists Vintage Culture, ANOTR, Lost Frequencies, ZHU, Loco Dice and Seth Troxler. New York's most scrutinized venue site now belongs to one of clubbing's oldest brands, and the first month will tell us what that combination is worth.
