Thomas Bangalter plays surprise set at The Lot Radio, his first US DJ set in nearly two decades

In one line

Thomas Bangalter played an unannounced 75 minute DJ set at Brooklyn's The Lot Radio on June 8, 2026. It was only his second DJ set in 17 years and his first in the US in almost two decades, and the recording is archived on the station's YouTube channel.

Half of Daft Punk walked into a shipping-container radio booth in Greenpoint and the internet found out only when the stream went live. On June 8, Thomas Bangalter played 75 unannounced minutes on The Lot Radio, the independent Brooklyn station that streams from a converted container next to a coffee window.

Resident Advisor notes it was only his second DJ set in 17 years; EDM.com called it his first US set in nearly two decades. Either way, the selections were the draw: Burial, Aphex Twin, Oklou, DJ Deeon, Plastikman, Boards of Canada, Flying Lotus, Octave One, Nala Sinephro, Tangerine Dream, and even Iannis Xenakis in one sitting.

Bangalter also worked in several pieces from his new solo album, Mirage, Ballet For 16 Dancers, released the week before, and closed the set with the final portion of Daft Punk's Contact, which is about as close to fan service as he allows himself these days.

Around the appearance he repeated, again, that a Daft Punk reunion is not on the table. "There are other things to explore," he told The Times. The full set is archived on The Lot Radio's YouTube channel and is worth the hour and a quarter.
