Chase & Status have released Generic Everything, their seventh studio album. The ten-track record came out on Friday 9 October through the duo's own 2RUFF Records, under exclusive licence to Warner Music UK, on streaming, CD and vinyl.
The concept is a jab at the moment the industry is in. The duo frame the album as a pushback against creative conformity driven by AI, algorithms and an endless stream of content, and use a cube as the symbol for that pressure: a box that squeezes original ideas into the same shape. It is a pointed theme for an act whose career was built on crossing between club culture and the charts.
The guest list reflects that crossover. J Hus and IRAH appear on Disgruntled, Debbie on Gone Too Far and Skrillex on Essa Ta Quente, all released as singles before the album. Little Simz, Giggs, D Double E, Col3trane, Saam Sultan and Ledbyher are also on the record. Coverage of the album describes a mix of drum and bass with dubstep, Brazilian baile funk and road rap.
The record sets up a large live year. Chase & Status announced their 2027 arena tour in September: a mainland European leg in February takes in Lodz, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris, before UK arenas in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and London's The O2 in the spring.
For artists and managers, the useful lesson is how the theme and the campaign line up. An album that criticises algorithm-driven sameness is still released with singles timed for playlists and a tour already on sale, but the concept gives every piece of content a point of view. A clear idea behind a record makes press, visuals and social posts easier to brief, and gives fans something to talk about beyond the tracklist.
