Kraftwerk book two UK heritage shows for June 2027: The Piece Hall Halifax and Cardiff Castle

In one line

Kraftwerk have announced two UK shows for summer 2027: The Piece Hall in Halifax on 22 June and Cardiff Castle on 23 June. They are the group's only confirmed UK dates so far. Halifax is part of Live at The Piece Hall, Cardiff is part of DEPOT Live, and general sale opened at 10am on Friday 23 October.

Kraftwerk are coming back to the UK next summer for two open air shows in historic settings. The Düsseldorf pioneers will play The Piece Hall in Halifax on Tuesday 22 June 2027 and Cardiff Castle on Wednesday 23 June 2027. For now these are their only confirmed UK dates for the summer.

The Halifax date is part of the Live at The Piece Hall series, inside the restored Georgian cloth hall that has become one of the north of England's most distinctive concert spaces, with doors at 6pm. Cardiff Castle sits within the DEPOT Live programme, with gates at 5pm. Tickets for Cardiff are sold through DEPOT Live and Halifax tickets through Live Nation, with general sale having opened at 10am on Friday 23 October after presales earlier in the week.

The timing is worth a look. The Cardiff show lands on the opening day of Glastonbury 2027, although Kraftwerk have not been announced for the festival. Pairing two heritage venues on back to back nights, with no wider UK tour around them, keeps each show scarce and turns a regional date into a destination trip for fans from across the country.

For artists and agents in electronic music, this is a useful model of how a legacy act books a summer. Rather than chasing the festival circuit, Kraftwerk take promoter run outdoor series in landmark venues, where capacity is controlled, the setting does part of the marketing, and the show is the headline rather than one name on a crowded poster.

There is also a lesson in scarcity. Kraftwerk have toured their catalogue for decades, yet two carefully chosen nights still read as news, because each one is framed as a moment rather than another stop. Acts with a strong live show can borrow that thinking on a smaller scale: fewer, better framed dates in venues with character often sell faster than a long run of interchangeable rooms.

That format is not only for legends. Independent promoters across the UK and Europe run similar summer series in castles, courtyards and city squares, and many need openers whose sound fits the headliner. If you play live electronics, modular or anything rooted in the electro and synth pop tradition Kraftwerk built, these one off heritage shows are where a carefully pitched support slot can put you in front of a crowd that actually listens.
