The 5th Element Festival returns to Puerto Rico in January 2027 with Joseph Capriati and Steve Lawler
The 5th Element Festival will return to San Juan, Puerto Rico, from 7 to 11 January 2027. Joseph Capriati and Steve Lawler lead the phase one lineup, both making their festival debuts, alongside returning names Danny Tenaglia, Dubfire, Nicole Moudaber, DJ Tennis, Dyed Soundorom and DJ Sneak. Early bird tickets are on sale now.
The 5th Element Festival is coming back to Puerto Rico. The house and techno event has confirmed its second edition for 7 to 11 January 2027 in San Juan, and published a phase one lineup led by Italian techno artist Joseph Capriati and UK house veteran Steve Lawler, both playing the festival for the first time.
They are joined by a group of returning artists from the first edition: Danny Tenaglia, Dubfire, Nicole Moudaber, DJ Tennis, Dyed Soundorom and DJ Sneak. The first wave also lists Barac, Cali Lanauze, Cristina Lazic, Neverdogs, Shonky and Traumer, a mix of minimal, deep house and techno names that matches the festival's slower, multi-day format.
The debut edition ran in January 2026 across San Juan, Isla Verde and the rainforest area around Río Grande, with beach and jungle stages, and the organisers say it welcomed more than 2,300 attendees. That 2026 bill featured Dixon, Ricardo Villalobos, Seth Troxler and Nicole Moudaber, and Chus and Ceballos used it as the first stop of their reunion run. The 2027 announcement says further artists, venues and wellness programming will follow in the coming months, and early bird tickets are already on sale through the festival's official channels.
For artists and managers, the interesting part is the calendar. Early January is a quiet stretch in the European club diary, after New Year's Eve and before the spring festival season starts to book. A five-day destination event in the Caribbean in that window gives DJs a high-profile date that does not compete with their European winter dates, and gives agents a reason to route artists through the Americas when many clubs at home are in their post-holiday lull.
The format also rewards a different kind of booking. Destination festivals with a few thousand guests, several stages and a multi-day schedule tend to favour long sets, back to backs and artists with a loyal travelling crowd, rather than the shortest, biggest names. For house, minimal and groove-led techno acts that thrive on extended sets, events like this are worth watching as the line-ups grow.
Puerto Rico has been building a reputation as a winter base for electronic music, and a second edition with a stronger techno headliner suggests The 5th Element is aiming to become a fixed point in that calendar. Further phases are expected before the end of the year.
